About the SCPA
| We are not the service provider, please see: County of Simcoe Paramedic Services. |
In December of 2002, a group of Simcoe County Paramedics came together and realized the need for an association that would promote, advocate, educate and lead their peers into the future. The inaugural meeting occurred on December 9th, 2002.
The Simcoe County Paramedic Association (SCPA) is a proud chapter of the Ontario Paramedic Association (OPA) and the Paramedic Association of Canada.
The SCPA is not a labour union or the service provider. The SCPA is a professional association, our mission is to provide leadership for paramedics; promote the science of paramedicine; and advocate the highest ethical, educational, and clinical standards of paramedicine. We achieve our objectives through public awareness and education. We also assist in fundraising for community based charities.
The SCPA has been working hard to educate the public and local politicians about the role of Paramedics in Simcoe County and the different levels of care that fall within the paramedic scope of practice.
Our recognition began with taking an active role in the development and promotion of programs within the community, such as the promotion of the Vial of Life. Other community involvement includes providing support and fundraising for the New Regional Cancer Care Centre at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie.
Not yet a member of the SCPA? Sign up now! The larger our support, the more we can accomplish together. Want to get involved? Decide which areas interest or concern you the most, and contact an executive member.
